MIDDLETOWN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced significant base repair work on two key state highways in Middletown Township, Delaware County, as part of a wider initiative to improve more than 200 miles of roads across the Philadelphia region.
From Monday, July 14, through Friday, July 18, Elwyn Road will be closed daily from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM between Baltimore Pike and Route 352 (New Middletown Road). During the same period and hours, Barren Road will be closed between Painter Road and Ridley Creek Road. Detours will guide motorists via Baltimore Pike, Route 352, Painter Road, Rose Tree Road, and Ridley Creek Road.
Local access will remain available throughout the closures. Drivers are strongly encouraged to allow extra travel time, as delays and congestion are expected. All work is weather dependent.
These repairs are part of PennDOT’s broader resurfacing and improvement projects, which involve milling, paving, and sealing highways with new asphalt to enhance safety and provide a smoother driving experience for motorists across the region.
