RADNOR, PA — Lincoln Financial Group (NYSE: LNC) has appointed John Morriss as Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, effective October 13, 2025. In his new role, Morriss will oversee the company’s general account, funds management, and private markets investment strategies, managing more than $300 billion in assets. He will report directly to Ellen Cooper, Chairman, President and CEO, and serve on Lincoln’s Senior Management Committee.
Morriss joins Lincoln from Fortitude Re, where he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Public and Private Fixed Income, managing the firm’s insurance-focused investment portfolios. His return to Lincoln marks a homecoming—he previously held a senior investment leadership role with the company, giving him an established understanding of its operations and strategy.
“John’s expertise and leadership make him an outstanding choice to lead our investments organization as we advance our strategy and build for the future,” said Cooper. “His proven track record and strategic insight align with Lincoln’s go-forward objectives, and he will play an important role in supporting our continued growth and execution.”
With more than three decades of experience in investment management, Morriss brings a deep background in portfolio management, asset allocation, and cross-market expertise. Before joining Fortitude Re in 2020, he served as Senior Vice President of Fixed Income Investments at Lincoln and spent 18 years at TIAA in leadership roles across structured finance research, international and high-yield credit, and portfolio management. He began his career as a currency trader at Chase Manhattan Bank.
“I’m honored to return to Lincoln as Chief Investment Officer,” Morriss said. “This is an exciting time for the company, and I look forward to leading the investments organization in advancing Lincoln’s strategy, supporting growth and delivering strong results for clients, policyholders and shareholders.”
Morriss earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of the Holy Cross and an MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Lincoln also acknowledged Jayson Bronchetti, who previously oversaw the company’s investments organization, thanking him for his contributions and assistance during the transition.
