PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of lane closures and ramp restrictions on southbound I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia, scheduled from June 2 through June 6. The closures are associated with a $355.3 million project aimed at reconstructing northbound I-95 between Wheatsheaf Lane and Margaret Street, replacing three bridges, and rehabilitating two ramps at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange.
Motorists should prepare for the following travel restrictions:
- Southbound I-95 Lane Closures (Cottman Avenue to Allegheny Avenue)
- Nightly closures will occur from Monday, June 2, through Friday, June 6, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
- Far Right Lane Closure at Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange
- The southbound I-95 collector-distributor lane will close from Tuesday, June 3, through Friday, June 6, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
- Southbound On-Ramp Closure from Aramingo Avenue
- The ramp at the Bridge Street Interchange will be closed nightly from Tuesday, June 3, through Friday, June 6, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Drivers will be directed to Aramingo Avenue, where they can turn onto Adams Avenue to reach the southbound I-95 ramp at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange.
PennDOT advises motorists to allow extra time for travel and expect potential delays, particularly during overnight hours. All planned activities are weather dependent, and schedules may be adjusted as needed.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert and approach construction zones with caution to ensure the safety of both workers and other travelers.
