MARTIC TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the closure of the Bridge Valley Road (Route 3038) bridge in Martic Township, Lancaster County, starting Wednesday, June 25, weather permitting. This closure is part of a replacement project set to last up to 80 days.

Spanning an unnamed tributary to the Susquehanna River between Lake Aldred Terrace and Ridge Drive, the existing slab structure will be replaced with a precast concrete span arch culvert. Additional work will include reconstructing approaches and upgrading guiderails.

During the closure, traffic will follow a designated detour utilizing Route 324 and River Road (Route 3017). Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel.

This project is the first of a two-bridge contract in Martic Township. Later this year, PennDOT will also replace the Martic Heights Drive (Route 3018) bridge over a tributary to Tucquan Creek, with updates on its closure to be provided in the future.

JVI Group, Inc., based in York Springs, PA, is completing the $1,996,224 contract. All work under the project is expected to conclude by October 22, 2025.
