BLUE BELL, PA — Health Advocate is marking 25 years in business as rising healthcare costs and increasingly complex employee benefits intensify demand for services that help workers navigate medical care, billing and health plans.
The Blue Bell-based company began in 2001 with a clinical advocacy and benefits navigation model designed to give members individualized assistance with healthcare decisions. Its services have since expanded into a broader health and well-being platform.
Health Advocate works with members on issues ranging from finding healthcare providers and understanding or appealing medical bills to navigating serious diagnoses, emotional well-being and caregiving responsibilities.
For employers, the company positions those services as a way to manage healthcare spending by addressing gaps in care, steering employees toward cost-effective options and intervening earlier when health concerns emerge.
Health Advocate said about half of employees participating in its workplace health screenings had at least one result outside the normal range, while 22% learned of a previously unidentified health risk. Repeat participants recorded a 29% improvement in blood pressure risk, according to the company.
The company is increasingly using artificial intelligence, data analytics and other technology to identify member needs and personalize assistance.

The company’s 25-year milestone comes as its original advocacy model evolves toward more proactive health navigation, with Health Advocate continuing to focus on healthcare outcomes, costs and employee well-being.
