QUAKERTOWN, PA — DEXIS, a global provider of dental imaging systems, said independent testing shows its handheld NOMAD Pro 2 portable X-ray device delivers significantly lower radiation leakage than a key competitor, strengthening the company’s pitch to clinicians seeking safer point-of-care tools.
According to DEXIS, the new evaluation found the NOMAD Pro 2 meets and exceeds the latest IEC 60601-2-65 standards and produces seven times less radiation leakage at the trigger area than the leading competing handheld system. Radiation exposure remains a top concern in dental practices, where imaging is frequent and typically performed in close proximity to providers.
Rainer Harjunpää, vice president for regulatory affairs at DEXIS, said the results reflect years of engineering refinements and real-world feedback from clinicians who rely on portable imaging in diverse settings. He said the device was developed to exceed both performance and safety expectations.
Beyond the safety findings, DEXIS emphasized practical benefits tied to the NOMAD Pro 2’s lightweight, cordless design. The handheld format allows clinicians to remain chairside, potentially reducing patient movement, cutting the need for retakes and speeding up imaging workflows. The system is designed for a wide range of clinical environments and incorporates long battery life to support continuous use.
The announcement builds on DEXIS’ broader strategy to expand its connected, AI-driven ecosystem of imaging and diagnostic tools across 2D and 3D imaging, intraoral scanning and software platforms. The company said the NOMAD Pro 2 reflects its focus on simplifying workflows, improving diagnostic accuracy and supporting more efficient patient care.
DEXIS is part of Envista, a family of dental technology brands.
