West Chester Film Festival Celebrates 20th Year With Global Lineup of Short Films

WEST CHESTER, PA — Lights, cameras, and stories from around the world will take center stage in downtown West Chester this spring as the West Chester International Short Film Festival returns for its milestone 20th year.

Running Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26, the three-day festival will showcase a diverse lineup of short films selected from a record number of submissions spanning more than 45 countries. Audiences can expect a dynamic mix of Oscar nominees and winners, local filmmakers, and emerging voices sharing powerful stories across genres.

“The West Chester Film Festival has been bringing exceptional short films to audiences for decades, and we could not be more proud to continue showcasing the works of filmmakers from our community and on a global scale,” said Sarah Beck, president of the WCFF.

A Weekend of Film, Creativity, and Community

Festival-goers will experience carefully curated two-hour film blocks that blend a wide range of styles and storytelling—from emotional dramas and thought-provoking documentaries to experimental works, animation, and comedy.

The weekend kicks off with an Opening Night Party, setting the tone for a packed schedule that includes workshops, pop-up film blocks, and networking opportunities for filmmakers and audiences alike.

A highlight of the festival will be the Chester Awards ceremony on Saturday evening, recognizing standout films and filmmakers. The celebration concludes Sunday with the “Best of the Fest,” featuring award-winning films, audience favorites, and the announcement of the People’s Choice Award.

In addition to public screenings, members of the media are invited to a special press preview on Friday evening at Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center, where filmmakers will walk the red carpet ahead of opening festivities.
