PHILADELPHIA, PA — Exyn Technologies (NASDAQ: EXYN, EXYNW) is expanding its defense business into the U.S. military’s sustainment market, positioning its autonomous inspection technology for aircraft maintenance as the company seeks growth beyond battlefield applications and into a segment that accounts for most lifetime defense equipment spending.
The company stated that Exyn Defense expects to begin a minimum viable product demonstration at the U.S. Air Force’s Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex in October 2026, with operational activities planned to start in January 2027. The initial deployment will focus on autonomous aircraft inspection and cargo mapping intended to reduce inspection times, improve maintenance data, and accelerate the return of aircraft to service.
The move broadens Exyn Defense’s addressable market beyond combat operations into the Department of Defense’s Organic Industrial Base, which includes depots, shipyards, arsenals, and maintenance facilities responsible for sustaining military equipment.
According to the U.S. Government Accountability Office, operating and support expenses account for roughly 70% of a weapon system’s total lifecycle cost, making sustainment one of the largest areas of defense spending. Exyn is seeking to apply the same artificial intelligence-powered autonomy software it has used in GPS-denied operational environments to inspection and maintenance workflows.
The company indicated the Warner Robins deployment could serve as a model for broader adoption across Defense Department sustainment organizations as the military works to modernize maintenance infrastructure and improve readiness.
Guy Barni, managing director of Exyn Defense and a former U.S. Air Force pilot, said military readiness depends as much on sustainment operations as frontline capabilities.
“Readiness generates combat power, and that’s why we treat it as a mission in its own right,” Barni said. He added that the company is adapting its autonomous systems for maintenance and inspection tasks after demonstrating the technology in operational environments where GPS is unavailable.
Exyn’s technology is built around its ExynAI autonomy engine, which enables aerial and ground robotic systems to navigate without GPS by mapping their surroundings, localizing in real time, and operating with minimal human input. The company stated the same software can generate detailed three-dimensional data for inspection and maintenance applications without requiring a separate autonomy platform for each system.
Chief Executive Officer Brandon Torres Declet said the expansion follows the company’s public listing and reflects a strategy to increase its presence in government and defense markets.
“Expanding into defense sustainment and the Organic Industrial Base broadens our addressable market well beyond the battlefield and positions Exyn Defense against a persistent, budget-backed national priority: keeping the force ready,” Torres Declet said.
