PHILADELPHIA, PA — Exyn Technologies (Nasdaq: EXYN, EXYNW) has integrated its Nexys autonomous mapping platform with CHCNAV’s X500 drone, extending its software to another third-party aircraft as the company pursues a hardware-agnostic strategy for GPS-denied industrial operations.
The X500 becomes the latest supported platform for ExynAI and Nexys, allowing Exyn to broaden its addressable robotics applications without designing, manufacturing or supporting its own aircraft.
The integrated configuration provides close to 30 minutes of autonomous flight, according to Exyn, increasing the area that operators can map during individual missions while reducing battery changes and manual piloting.
The system is intended for underground mines, tunnels, industrial plants, infrastructure and other enclosed or difficult-to-access environments where GPS is unavailable and no prior map exists.
ExynAI handles onboard mapping, localization, navigation and autonomous decision-making. When paired with the X500, the technology can plan flight paths, avoid obstacles and adapt to changing conditions while collecting three-dimensional mapping data in real time.
“Customers should not have to choose their autonomy software based on a single piece of hardware,” Interim Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer Ben Williams said.
The integration advances Exyn’s strategy of separating its autonomous-navigation technology from any single robotic platform. Nexys is designed as a modular payload that can move among supported aerial and ground systems, giving customers the ability to select hardware based on individual mission requirements.
That approach also underpins Exyn’s plans to pursue software, software development kit, application programming interface and original equipment manufacturer opportunities that could embed ExynAI into additional third-party robotic platforms.
“We believe the long-term opportunity for ExynAI extends well beyond any single drone or robot,” Williams said. “As we expand compatibility across third-party platforms, we broaden the range of customers and missions our technology can serve.”
Exyn is targeting the X500-Nexys configuration at mining, surveying, industrial inspection, infrastructure surveying and facility digitization, where longer autonomous flights could allow operators to collect more data while limiting the need to send workers into hazardous areas.
