Early Morning Closure on Tacony Street: What Philadelphia Drivers Need to Know

Traffic alert, expect delays

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that a section of Tacony Street in Northeast Philadelphia will be closed early Tuesday morning, November 4, for overhead bridge construction tied to the ongoing I-95/BS2 project.

From 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM, Tacony Street will be closed between Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street while crews perform work on the overhead structure. During the closure, northbound traffic will be detoured via Aramingo/Harbison Avenue, turning right onto Bridge Street to return to Tacony Street. Southbound motorists will follow a similar pattern, turning right onto Bridge Street and left onto Aramingo/Harbison Avenue.

Drivers should plan ahead and allow additional travel time, as detours and delays are expected. All construction activities are weather dependent.

The overnight closure is part of PennDOT’s I-95/BS2 reconstruction project, which involves rebuilding the interstate in both directions between Margaret Street and Carver Street to improve safety, capacity, and long-term infrastructure reliability.
