QUAKERTOWN, PA — DEXIS is expanding its dental imaging platform across hardware, diagnostic software, cloud services and intraoral scanning, a broad product update designed to connect more of the clinical workflow while giving dental practices new options for acquiring and maintaining equipment.
The Quakertown-based dental technology company introduced updates spanning X-ray and 3D imaging, implant scanning, endodontic treatment planning and laboratory collaboration. DEXIS is also adding Hardware-as-a-Service models with monthly pricing, equipment protection and upgrade options.
The hardware changes include NOMAD Pro 3, the latest version of the company’s handheld X-ray system, with improvements to image quality and durability.
DEXIS is also adding Motion Correction to its ORTHOPANTOMOGRAPH OP 3D system. The software-based feature is designed to reduce image degradation caused by patient movement during cone-beam computed tomography, or CBCT, scans and does not require a hardware upgrade.
In intraoral scanning, the latest IS ScanFlow software adds the SEAT Protocol for scanbody-based implant procedures. The workflow is intended to improve alignment and image accuracy for full-arch and multi-unit restorations.
A new slim tip for the DEXIS Imprevo scanner is designed to improve access in tight spaces, posterior areas and patients with limited mouth opening.
DEXIS is also extending its diagnostic software into endodontics. DTX Studio Clinic 4.10 includes a new module that, when used with CBCT imaging, allows clinicians to segment and visualize root canals in three dimensions before treatment.
The capability is aimed at helping endodontists and general practitioners assess complex canal anatomy and make treatment or referral decisions.
The company is also rebranding IS Connect as DEXIS IOS Cloud as it expands its cloud-based collaboration platform. The updated service adds a redesigned user experience and integration with 3Shape for sharing scanning workflows and data between clinicians and dental laboratories.
DEXIS President Robert Befidi said the collection of updates is intended to address different parts of clinicians’ workflows rather than a single product category.
“Each of these advancements solves a different challenge for our customers,” Befidi said. “Combined, they help clinicians see more clearly and get more value from the technologies they use every day.”
DEXIS is separately expanding integrations with Asiga, 3Shape and SmileGrid as it seeks to connect its products with other technologies used in digital dental workflows.
The company is also consolidating training and on-demand educational materials through DEXIS Academy, which provides workflow-based instruction and other resources for customers using its digital dentistry products.
