PHILADELPHIA, PA — Dermatology Partners named Jawahar Balakrishnan vice president of systems and operations as the physician-led practice expands its executive team and builds infrastructure to support growth across the Mid-Atlantic.
Balakrishnan will oversee technology and operational systems for the privately owned dermatology group, drawing on more than 25 years of healthcare information technology experience.
He previously held leadership roles supporting Nemours Children’s Health and Inspira Health Network, as well as multi-location specialty practices including Premier Orthopaedics and Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center.
His prior work has included electronic health record migrations, cloud-based systems, custom software development and broader IT infrastructure projects designed to support organizational expansion.
Chief Operating Officer Andrew Frankel said Balakrishnan has focused on using technology to improve the experience of patients, families and clinical teams throughout his career.
The appointment follows two other leadership changes at Dermatology Partners. The group recently named Amber Mault vice president of people and Sarah Plasha director of human resources.
Dermatology Partners described the appointments as part of an effort to broaden its executive team while expanding its regional footprint in response to demand for dermatology services.
The company operates without private equity backing and provides affiliated practices with administrative support, technology integration and shared clinical resources while allowing providers to retain their local identities and patient relationships, according to the organization.
Balakrishnan earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in civil engineering from Osmania University in India.
