WILMINGTON, DE — ChristianaCare said President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Janice Nevin will retire effective September 1, 2026, and that Jenn Schwartz has been appointed to succeed her.

Nevin has been with the health system for more than 23 years, including 12 years as CEO after being named to the role in 2014.

She joined ChristianaCare in 2002 as chair of family and community medicine and later served as executive director of the Wilmington campus and chief medical officer.

The board selected Schwartz following a review process that included industry benchmarking and evaluation of internal and external candidates.

Schwartz will assume the role of president and CEO on September 1, 2026.

Board Chair George Foutrakis said Nevin expanded access to care through investments in primary care, behavioral health, virtual services, and school-based health programs.

“Serving this community and working alongside our extraordinary caregivers has been the greatest honor of my career,” Nevin said.

Foutrakis said Schwartz has played a leadership role during a period of organizational change and has experience with ChristianaCare’s operations and strategy.

“It is an extraordinary privilege to be chosen to lead ChristianaCare and build upon the remarkable foundation Dr. Nevin has created,” Schwartz said.
