Chris’ Jazz Café Marks 36 Years With Star-Studded September Lineup

PHILADELPHIA, PAChris’ Jazz Café will celebrate its 36th anniversary this September with a monthlong slate of performances featuring emerging artists and veteran headliners.

The series opens Saturday, Sept. 6, with The Tribute Legacy Band featuring Don Braden in a program honoring Grover Washington, Jr., with sets at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Pianist Luke Carlos O’Reilly and his quartet follow on Friday, Sept. 12, also at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 20, the Tyler Henderson Trio returns to mark the release of Love Endures.

Anniversary festivities culminate Sept. 26–27 with the Benny Benack III & Anaïs Reno Sextet. Benack recently released This Is the Life, while Reno is celebrating Lady of Lavender Mist. Both nights feature 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. shows.

The club’s regular programming continues alongside the anniversary events. A late-night Saturday jazz jam runs 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., showcasing rising local talent. Every Thursday at 10:30 p.m., Jake Kaplan hosts the Philly Jazz Series with rotating guest artists, paired with a late-night happy hour from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. offering $6 bar snacks, $5 drafts, $7 house wines, and $9 mixed drinks.

Tickets are available as Dinner & Show packages—including a three-course chef’s tasting menu—along with VIP and general admission (beverages, tax, and gratuity not included). All tickets are premium seating. Select performances stream on the café’s YouTube channel, @ChrisJazzCafePhilly.
