WILMINGTON, DE — Chase will offer Freedom and Freedom Flex cardholders 5% cash back on activated grocery, dining, and eligible American Red Cross transactions from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, targeting categories likely to capture increased household spending and charitable giving during the holiday season.
The quarterly rate applies to as much as $1,500 in combined purchases across the three bonus categories. Cardholders must activate the offer by Dec. 14 to participate.
Grocery-store purchases qualify for the 5% rate, with Walmart and Target excluded. Dining purchases are also eligible, along with qualifying donations to the American Red Cross.
“Freedom is designed to help cardmembers earn more in the categories that fit their everyday lives,” Chase Freedom General Manager Wittney Rachlin stated. “This quarter, 5% cash back on grocery stores and dining gives cardmembers more value during a season filled with holiday meals, hosting and time around the table.”
The $1,500 quarterly spending ceiling applies collectively across the activated bonus categories rather than separately to each category.
Freedom Flex cardholders also receive year-round rewards outside the rotating quarterly program. Those include 5% cash back on travel booked through Chase Travel, 3% on restaurant dining including takeout and eligible delivery services, and 3% on drugstore purchases.
All other purchases earn 1% cash back.
