NORTH EAST, MD — Stephanie Hutchison Maahs, a nursing student at Cecil College, has been named a recipient of the Dunkin’ Baltimore/Metro DC Regional Scholarship Program, receiving a $2,500 award to support her education.
Recognition for Academic Achievement and Service
A resident of Middletown, Delaware, Maahs is among up to 50 students across the Baltimore/Washington region honored this year for academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement. She first learned about the scholarship through an email from Cecil College’s Director of Student Life, Cheryl Davis-Robinson, and was encouraged to apply.
The scholarship comes at a critical moment, as Maahs prepares to leave her job in order to complete the intensive clinical training required for her nursing degree. “The event was AMAZING! Everything was so nice. It felt really good to be recognized for our hard work,” she said of the award ceremony hosted by Dunkin’.
Path Toward a Nursing Career
Maahs chose Cecil College on the recommendation of Anita Witzke, Director of Patient Care Services at Bayhealth Medical Center – Kent Campus, who praised the college’s nursing program. With the support of the scholarship, she continues working toward her goal of becoming a nurse and serving her community.
Scholarship Program Expands Opportunities
The Dunkin’ Regional Scholarship Program, sponsored by Dunkin’ and its franchisees, was created to help ease the financial challenges of higher education for students in the Baltimore/DC metro area. The program awards scholarships to current undergraduates and high school seniors based on academic performance, leadership, work experience, and commitment to education.
For Maahs, the scholarship represents both recognition of her achievements and a step closer to fulfilling her lifelong dream of a career in nursing.
