PHILADELPHIA, PA — Attalon shipped its first Valaris high-energy laser subsystem for an international defense program, extending the U.S.-made platform beyond domestic defense programs as the Philadelphia company expands production capacity for directed-energy systems.
The subsystem was delivered to a U.S. customer supporting the international program. It is the first Valaris unit produced for an international end-use requirement, according to Attalon.
The shipment follows Attalon’s $15 million investment in directed-energy manufacturing capacity, workforce and capital equipment as customers move high-energy laser technology into production programs.
“This milestone demonstrates the growing demand for Valaris and for high-energy laser technology that can be produced, fielded, and sustained at scale,” Chief Executive Officer John Bergeron stated.
Valaris is designed and manufactured in the United States for defense programs requiring high-energy laser capabilities that can move into scaled production.
Attalon is expanding its U.S. manufacturing capacity as demand for directed-energy systems grows among domestic customers and U.S. allies.
“Attalon is building that capability here in the United States in support of the U.S. warfighter while extending proven, U.S. built technology to allied forces upgrading their capabilities around the world,” Bergeron stated.
The international program broadens the potential market for Valaris while Attalon continues investing in domestic engineering and manufacturing to support additional high-energy laser programs.
