WILMINGTON, DE — Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH) launched a new crop-protection dispersant globally as the specialty chemicals company expands its Transformed Vegetable Oils technology platform and targets demand for formulations that combine performance with biodegradable, microplastic-free materials.
The new product, agrimer eco-disperse OD TVO, is a patented polymeric dispersant derived from transformed vegetable oil and designed for non-aqueous crop-protection formulations. Samples and commercial quantities are available globally.
Ashland developed the dispersant to stabilize and distribute water-insoluble active ingredients, addressing formulation problems that can include ingredient settling and clogged application nozzles.
The company also designed the technology to improve leaf adhesion, coverage and rain fastness. Ashland describes the material as nature-based, inherently biodegradable and free of microplastics.
Those characteristics are intended to help agrochemical formulators balance product performance with sustainability objectives and regulatory requirements.
Agrimer eco-disperse OD can be used in suspension concentrates and other non-aqueous formulations, broadening the commercial applications of Ashland’s TVO platform.
“Agrimer eco-disperse OD expands our TVO platform with a patented technology that helps formulators achieve both sustainability and performance objectives,” Alessandra Faccin, senior vice president and general manager of Life Sciences at Ashland, stated.
The launch is the latest commercialization from the company’s TVO technology platform, which Ashland is positioning as a source of additional products and growth opportunities.
Jean J. Gulka, Ashland’s global business director for Life Sciences, described the product as evidence of the platform’s scalability and versatility, adding that the company is pursuing additional opportunities using the technology.
Ashland is making the dispersant available globally as part of its broader strategy to generate growth from new specialty formulations and expand the commercial reach of its transformed vegetable oil technology.
