BRYN MAWR, PA — Aqua Pennsylvania is replacing 25,120 feet of aging water mains across multiple Delaware County municipalities to improve system reliability and reduce service disruptions.

The upgrades involve replacing older cast iron pipes with ductile iron mains made from nearly 90% recycled materials.

The project spans Haverford, Upper Darby, Ridley, Springfield, and Tinicum townships, as well as the Media and Glenolden boroughs.

In Haverford Township, 4,215 feet of water main will be replaced on Surrey Lane Loop, Hill Road, Leedom Road and at the intersection of Dill and Hill roads.

Upper Darby Township will see 3,900 feet of replacement along Turner and Foss avenues.

In Springfield Township, 6,800 feet of water main will be upgraded along Burns Drive, Foster Drive, North Britton Road, Schollar Lane, Evans Road, Yarnell Drive and Parham Road.

Ridley Township projects include 3,775 feet of replacement on Grand, Cedar and Holmes avenues and along Ridley Circle.

In Tinicum Township, crews will replace 2,400 feet of water main on Chippewa and Delaware streets.

Media Borough will have 330 feet replaced on North Lemon Street, while Glenolden Borough will see 3,700 feet replaced along North Scott Avenue, North Llanwellyn Avenue, Rambler Road and North Woodland Avenue.

Aqua Pennsylvania said the infrastructure work is part of a broader program to modernize water systems and address aging pipes, many of which have been in service for decades.

The company said replacing deteriorating mains is intended to reduce leaks and main breaks while improving water flow for residential and commercial customers.
