READING, PA — Ambius has identified seven commercial holiday design trends for 2026 as businesses increasingly use seasonal décor to influence customer dwell time, employee engagement and perceptions of physical spaces.
The Reading-based interior landscaping and design company framed the trends around retail, hospitality and workplace environments rather than residential decorating.
“How a space feels during the holidays matters just as much as how it looks,” Ambius President Lorri MacHarg stated. She described seasonal design as an investment in how customers and employees experience a business.
The company’s Refined Christmas Classic concept uses rich colors, layered materials and familiar seasonal elements for hotels and other higher-end properties.
Enchanted Forest draws on snow-covered woodland imagery, natural textures and earthy materials. Ambius positioned the style for wellness-oriented workplaces and boutique hospitality locations.
Ambient Artisan combines handcrafted details and organic textures for properties with substantial natural light, while Southern Grandeur pairs magnolia blooms and gold accents with blue and green tones for businesses emphasizing regional or heritage identities.
High-Contrast Holiday uses a black-and-white palette, oversized ornaments and graphic patterns for contemporary retail and corporate properties.
Winter Radiance incorporates pearl garlands, crystal details, iridescent beads and white satin ribbons. The company identified luxury hospitality and higher-end retail as likely applications.
The More the Merrier takes a maximalist approach, combining bright seasonal colors, oversized decorations and jewel tones for high-traffic retail and entertainment venues.
Laura Burns, a sensory designer at Ambius, indicated that successful seasonal displays should encourage visitors to pause and engage with the space.
“When we layer textures, lighting, and natural elements intentionally, we’re not just hanging decorations; we’re designing to inspire connection,” Burns stated.
