Lu is accused of engaging in online communications with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. This individual, however, turned out to be a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, conducting an undercover operation. Documents filed in court outline that over several weeks, Lu allegedly expressed a desire to meet and engage in sexual activities with the purported minor, even acknowledging the legal repercussions he could face if discovered.
The situation escalated when Lu arranged a meeting for April 2, 2024, purchasing items he believed would be used during the encounter. Upon his arrival at the designated location, law enforcement officials took him into custody. A subsequent search of Lu’s residence reportedly uncovered the items he mentioned during his communications: condoms, honey, and lubricant.
Facing a complaint of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, Lu now confronts the possibility of a life sentence, with a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted.
