PITTSBURGH, PA — Troy D. Arnold, a 57-year-old resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was sentenced on December 20, 2023, to five years in federal prison followed by ten years of supervised release for possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor. United States District Judge Robert J. Colville handed down the sentence.

The court was informed that around August 15, 2022, Arnold was found in possession of more than 2,700 images and videos that depicted the sexual exploitation of children. The collection included disturbing content involving prepubescent minors and children under the age of 12. Some of the materials portrayed sadistic or masochistic conduct, other forms of violence, and the sexual abuse or exploitation of infants and toddlers.

The case against Arnold was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Carl J. Spindler on behalf of the United States. United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan commended the Pittsburgh Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for their diligent work leading to Arnold’s successful prosecution.
