HARRISBURG, PA — PennDOT’s driver’s license and photo centers across Pennsylvania will close July 4 for the Independence Day holiday, with two full-service locations also shuttering a day earlier, potentially affecting residents seeking last-minute licensing and identification services before the holiday weekend.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said all driver’s license and photo centers statewide will be closed Saturday, July 4.
In addition, the full-service Driver License Center in Harrisburg and the Pittsburgh Driver License Center at 708 Smithfield St. will also be closed Friday, July 3.
The closures affect in-person services, including driver’s license and photo ID transactions that typically require visits to PennDOT centers.
PennDOT said many services will remain available online throughout the holiday period through its Driver and Vehicle Services website at https://www.pa.gov/dmv.
Online services, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, include driver’s license, photo ID and vehicle registration renewals, changes of address, driver-history requests, restoration fee payments, duplicate licenses and identification cards, REAL ID pre-verification, and driver exam scheduling.
The department said there are no additional fees for customers who use its online services.
