WILLIAMSPORT, PA — Lycoming Arts marked a double milestone Saturday evening during a gala held at the historic Peter Herdic House Restaurant, commemorating 65 years of fostering local arts and the 25th anniversary of the beloved Williamsport First Friday™ event.

The nonprofit organization has long been a champion of the arts in Williamsport, connecting artists, residents, and visitors through events like Arts in the Neighborhood, public workshops, and gallery exhibitions. Williamsport First Friday™, now in its 25th year, exemplifies this mission by bringing an average of 6,000 people monthly to downtown Williamsport, enriching the city’s cultural atmosphere and driving economic activity.

During the celebration, State Representative Jamie Flick presented Lycoming Arts with a Certificate of Achievement, recognizing its six and a half decades of impact on the community. “Lycoming Arts has been a cornerstone of creativity and connection within the community of Williamsport for 65 years,” said President Debi Burch. “We are honored to receive this recognition from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and we share this achievement with the artists, volunteers, and supporters who make our work possible. We look forward to continuing our mission and expanding the impact of the arts in our community.”

Beyond its events, Lycoming Arts has played a pivotal role in transforming the cityscape through its PublicARTWORKS initiatives, which have introduced public art projects that reflect Williamsport’s historical and cultural heritage. The organization’s commitment extends beyond artistry; it also seeks to boost the local economy and preserve the unique identity of the community.

Saturday’s gala drew notable attendees, including State Representative Jamie Flick, County Commissioner Mark Mussina, Williamsport Mayor Derek Slaughter, and key sponsors and donors whose support continues to fuel Lycoming Arts’ mission to create connections and opportunities in the arts.

Through initiatives like the River Valley Film Festival and countless other contributions, Lycoming Arts remains at the heart of Williamsport’s vibrant creative culture, ensuring that art’s role in the community thrives for generations to come.
