HARRISBURG, PA — A former resident of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, has been handed a 40-month prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and illegal possession of a firearm. Troy Allen Shirey, 48, received his sentence from United States District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam explained that Shirey was already prohibited from possessing firearms due to an active Protection From Abuse (PFA) order issued in Mifflin County. Despite this, Shirey was found in possession of multiple firearms when United States Marshals executed a search warrant at his Lewistown residence on March 8, 2021.

The search yielded approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine, 23 packets of fentanyl, $1140 in cash, and various drug paraphernalia indicative of drug distribution. Four firearms were also seized, including a handgun with an obliterated serial number and another handgun that had been reported missing.

The case against Shirey was a collaborative effort involving the United States Marshals, the Lewistown Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Assistant U.S. Attorneys Johnny Baer and Bruce D. Brandler were responsible for prosecuting the case.
