HARRISBURG, PA — GE Vernova will invest $166 million to expand manufacturing operations in western Pennsylvania, a project backed by $6 million in state funding that is expected to create at least 714 jobs while retaining 735 existing positions over the next four years, Gov. Josh Shapiro announced Thursday.
The expansion includes upgrades at the company’s existing facilities in Findlay Township, Allegheny County, and Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County. GE Vernova recently purchased the Rostraver facility it had previously leased and plans to install new industrial machinery and equipment at both locations.
The Commonwealth’s incentive package includes a proposed $5 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant and a $1 million WEDnetPA grant for workforce training. The company is also eligible to apply for Pennsylvania’s Manufacturing Tax Credit and Qualified Manufacturing Innovation and Reinvestment Deduction programs.
The project was coordinated through the Shapiro administration’s BusinessPA initiative, which recruits and supports business expansion projects across the Commonwealth.
“From day one, my Administration has worked to make Pennsylvania a leader on economic development, supporting Pennsylvania businesses and workers to keep our Commonwealth moving forward,” Shapiro stated. “It’s clear that strategy is paying off as companies like GE Vernova choose the Commonwealth as the place to expand and invest in, creating good-paying jobs that strengthen our communities and position our Commonwealth to lead the future of energy and advanced manufacturing.”
GE Vernova, which was formed in 2024 following the spin-off of General Electric’s energy businesses, manufactures equipment and provides services for wind, hydroelectric, solar and natural gas power generation, as well as grid electrification technologies. The company employs approximately 80,000 people across 10 countries and also operates facilities in Allentown and Charleroi.
Chief Executive Officer Scott Strazik said the investment will modernize manufacturing facilities while expanding the company’s workforce to meet growing demand for energy technologies.
“Investing in American manufacturing is the key to turbocharging the country’s economy, and Western Pennsylvania plays an important role in our energy future,” Strazik stated.
State officials said the investment aligns with Pennsylvania’s economic development strategy, which identifies energy and advanced manufacturing as priority industries for job growth and private-sector investment.
