Elizabeth Moro Wins Shapiro Endorsement in House District 160

Election News

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Elizabeth Moro, the Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania House District 160, secured Gov. Josh Shapiro’s endorsement Tuesday as Democrats target the Chester-Delaware County seat in their effort to expand their state House majority in November.

Shapiro included Moro among 11 Democratic House candidates he endorsed across Pennsylvania, 10 of them challengers seeking to flip Republican-held seats.

Moro framed the endorsement around areas where she said her priorities overlap with the governor’s, including health care and energy costs, housing availability, school funding and abortion rights.

“The Governor and I are aligned in priorities: from working to lower the costs of healthcare and energy, to solving housing availability and educational funding issues to set our kids up for success, to protecting our rights and freedoms as Americans,” Moro said.

Shapiro tied the slate of endorsements to a broader Democratic effort to increase the party’s House majority and gain control of the state Senate.

“This November, we have a real opportunity to expand our Democratic State House Majority and flip control of the State Senate for the first time in decades,” Shapiro said.

The governor cited raising Pennsylvania’s minimum wage, lowering costs, expanding housing, codifying abortion rights and changing statutes of limitation among the policies Democrats want to advance.

The House Democratic Campaign Committee said it is fielding candidates in 187 of Pennsylvania’s 203 House districts and described the endorsed races as important to maintaining and expanding the party’s majority.

The full slate endorsed by Shapiro includes Bryan Allen in House District 18; Brad Chambers in District 41; Hadley Haas in District 44; Sara Agerton in District 88; Jessica McClay in District 121; Meriam Sabih in District 131; Jeff Warren in District 137; Kristin Egan in District 142; Tim Hayes in District 143; Moro in District 160; and Rachel Cuevas in District 187.

Moro is a small business owner, real estate broker, author and community advocate, according to her campaign.

The endorsements are part of a broader Democratic push to retain and expand the party’s state House majority, gain control of the state Senate and re-elect Shapiro and Lt. Gov. Austin Davis. Democrats cited raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, protecting abortion rights and regulating data centers among their legislative priorities.
