Pennsylvania Arts and Culture Recovery Grants: A Lifeline for Local Art Organizations

HARRISBURG, PA — In a significant boost to the local arts community, State Senator John I. Kane (D) and his colleagues have announced the awarding of Pennsylvania Arts and Culture Recovery (PARC) grants. The grants, amounting to a total of $72,475, are aimed at providing critical financial support to arts and cultural organizations within the 9th District that have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The grants are set to bolster the creative sectors of the community, enhancing the local economy and enriching the shared spirit of the region. Senator Kane expressed his excitement over directing these funds to help sustain the arts and culture sector in the community.

Supporting the Preservation of History

Among the recipients is the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation, which was granted $10,309. Located in Edgmont Township, Delaware County, the Plantation plays an essential role in preserving and sharing local history. The grant will support its efforts, largely carried out by volunteers, to maintain one of the most beautiful state parks, Ridley Creek.

Boosting Performing Arts

Hedgerow Theatre, Inc., a performing arts organization located in Rose Valley Borough, Delaware County, was awarded $26,259. The funds are expected to enhance the theatre’s artistic excellence, foster creativity, and promote educational enrichment in the community. The grant comes at a critical time, allowing the theatre to invest in operating costs, infrastructure improvements, and the overall quality of local performing arts.

Enhancing Community Engagement through Arts

Kennett Flash Inc., an arts organization based in Kennett Square Borough, Chester County, and Kennett Symphony of Chester County also received grants of $11,286 and $13,950 respectively. Both organizations are known for their performances that engage people throughout Chester County and beyond, contributing to the arts and economic activity in the community.

Preserving Cultural Heritage

Finally, the Delaware County Historical Society, located in Chester City, Delaware County, was granted $10,671. The Society is set to use the funds to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the region.
