SBA Launches $1 Million Pitch Contest Ahead of U.S. 250th

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Small Business Administration has launched a nationwide small-business competition offering $1 million in cash prizes as the agency seeks to highlight entrepreneurship and economic growth ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations.

The Patriot Pitch Competition is open to eligible small businesses that have used qualifying SBA capital programs. Prize funding is being provided by Clover Network, Inc., a subsidiary of Fiserv.

The competition arrives as federal officials continue emphasizing domestic manufacturing, workforce development, and small-business lending as part of broader economic policy efforts.

SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler stated that the contest is intended to spotlight businesses contributing to U.S. competitiveness and job creation.

“This nationwide contest will award a total of $1 million in cash prizes to small businesses whose innovation, grit and leadership are helping build America’s next great era of strength, prosperity, and competitiveness,” Loeffler said in a statement.

According to the SBA, applications will be evaluated on several criteria, including a company’s contribution to American competitiveness, industry impact, ability to create economic opportunity and jobs, and operational readiness.

The competition will proceed through four rounds of judging before concluding with a live finals event in Washington in September, where finalists will pitch their businesses before a panel of judges and a national audience.

The finals event will also feature supplier matchmaking sessions intended to connect small businesses with larger companies and contracting opportunities, along with networking events involving investors, industry executives, and policymakers.

Takis Georgakopoulos, co-president of Fiserv, said Clover’s sponsorship reflects the company’s support for entrepreneurship and small-business development.

Small-business owners interested in participating must submit applications by June 10, according to the SBA.
