IRS Launches Nationwide Hiring Push for Seasonal Tax Staff

Internal Revenue Service (IRS)

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Internal Revenue Service is holding hiring events across the country through July as the agency seeks to fill seasonal positions that support taxpayer assistance and tax return processing operations.

The recruitment effort targets customer service representatives and tax examining technicians, positions the agency said are critical to handling taxpayer inquiries, processing returns, and supporting compliance activities.

The hiring events are part of the IRS’s broader workforce strategy as it continues efforts to improve taxpayer service and operational efficiency.

“These hiring events are an important step in strengthening our workforce and improving the taxpayer experience,” IRS Chief Executive Officer Frank J. Bisignano said. “We are looking for individuals who want to make a meaningful impact while building a rewarding career in public service.”

Customer service representatives will assist taxpayers by researching tax-related questions and providing support over the phone using multiple agency systems. Tax examining technicians will analyze tax processing issues, adjust taxpayer accounts, and respond to inquiries involving tax returns and related filings.

The IRS said qualified applicants who apply through a designated job announcement before attending an event may receive on-the-spot job offers from agency hiring officials.

According to the agency, the entry-level positions do not require prior tax experience. New hires will receive training designed to prepare them for their roles.

The IRS is encouraging prospective applicants to review openings and apply before attending hiring events through its careers website at https://www.jobs.irs.gov/events.

The agency said the positions offer federal employment benefits, career development opportunities, and advancement pathways in public service.
