Roaches, Spoiled Food, and Safety Lapses Found in County Inspections

Food Safety Inspections

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Health Department reported multiple food safety violations at several establishments following inspections conducted Thursday, April 23, 2026, including issues involving sanitation, food storage, and equipment maintenance.

The department noted that inspection results reflect conditions observed at the time of inspection and may not represent long-term compliance.

At Angelina’s Brick Oven Pizzeria in Pottstown, inspectors cited the facility for failing to install a required hand sink in the dessert area, lacking thermometers in cold holding units, and incomplete floor and wall repairs.

At Bualoy Cuisine in Devon, inspectors reported improper food storage, including raw meats stored above ready-to-eat items, unlabeled food containers, and a dented can of mushrooms that was removed during inspection. Additional violations included lack of paper towels at hand sinks and insufficient sanitizer levels in a dishwasher.

A follow-up inspection at Mendenhall Inn in Mendenhall found expired food items, improper stacking of covered foods, and evidence of pest activity, including a live roach observed in the kitchen.

At Station 142 in West Chester, inspectors cited improper food temperatures, sanitizer concentration issues in both dishwashing and warewashing systems, and expired dairy products that were discarded during inspection.

  • Russellville Grange #91 — Oxford
  • Taco Maya 2 / Thornbury — West Chester
  • The Artillery Brewing Company — West Chester
  • The Cow and the Curd — Yeadon
  • West Chester United Methodist Church — West Chester
