MALVERN, PA — Annovis Bio Inc. (NYSE: ANVS) will present updates on its experimental Alzheimer’s disease treatment buntanetap at a November medical conference in Boston as the Malvern-based biotechnology company approaches a pivotal Phase 3 clinical trial data readout expected in early 2027.
The company will deliver three presentations at the 19th Clinical Trials on Alzheimer’s Disease conference, scheduled for November 16-19, covering its late-stage clinical program, the drug’s mechanism of action and the use of artificial intelligence in evaluating Alzheimer’s treatments.
The presentations come as Annovis prepares for a potential New Drug Application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, a regulatory step that would seek authorization to market buntanetap.
Buntanetap is an investigational oral therapy designed to inhibit the production of neurotoxic proteins associated with neurodegenerative diseases. Annovis is developing the drug for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
The company’s pivotal Phase 3 study focuses on patients with early Alzheimer’s disease. Chief Scientific Officer Cheng Fang will present the trial’s design and baseline patient characteristics during a poster session available November 16-17.
The presentation will provide information about the study population and methodology ahead of the anticipated clinical results.
Annovis also plans to discuss buntanetap’s approach to restoring proteostasis, the cellular process responsible for maintaining proper protein balance.
Alexander Morin, the company’s director of strategic communications, will deliver that oral presentation November 19 at 3:52 p.m. Eastern Time.
The research examines buntanetap’s potential to reduce the production of proteins implicated in Alzheimer’s disease by inhibiting their translation.
A third presentation will address the use of artificial intelligence to predict whether late-stage small-molecule drug candidates can cross the blood-brain barrier, a critical consideration in developing treatments that act within the central nervous system.
Morin will present that research during a poster session running November 16-17.
Maria Maccecchini, Annovis’ founder, president and chief executive officer, identified the upcoming Phase 3 results and potential regulatory filing as the company’s principal development milestones.
The presentations reflect the company’s progress “as we approach a pivotal data readout in early 2027 and prepare for a New Drug Application,” Maccecchini said.
The anticipated results will be central to determining buntanetap’s clinical effectiveness in early Alzheimer’s disease and informing the company’s next regulatory steps.
Buntanetap remains investigational, and the planned presentations do not establish whether the treatment will meet its Phase 3 objectives or receive regulatory approval.
