WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County health inspectors cited two food establishments for violations involving food temperatures, sanitation equipment, and kitchen practices during inspections conducted on October 14, 2026, while five other facilities were found in compliance with county food safety requirements.
The Chester County Health Department identified eight violations during a follow-up inspection at French Creek Golf Links in Elverson, including improperly refrigerated food, inadequate dishwashing temperatures and the cultivation of sprouts without an approved food safety plan.
Taipei Chinese Kitchen in West Grove received three violations involving plumbing, food-handling practices and access to a handwashing sink.
At French Creek Golf Links, located at 4500 Conestoga Road, inspectors found house-made sauces, cheese and tomato jam held between 47 and 52 degrees Fahrenheit in a cookline preparation unit and ice bath. Food requiring temperature control must be maintained at 41 degrees or below.
Inspectors also observed overfilled containers and double-panned food that prevented proper contact with refrigerated air. The affected food was discarded.
Additional ready-to-eat food prepared at the facility had exceeded the seven-day holding limit and was discarded during the inspection.
The facility was also growing sprouts onsite for use as garnishes without an approved Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point, or HACCP, plan.
County inspectors ordered the facility to discontinue serving the sprouts until a plan is submitted, reviewed, and approved. The sprouts were discarded.
The inspection identified a separate sanitation problem involving the dishwashing machine, which failed to reach the required dish-surface temperature of 160 degrees.
Rinse water temperatures ranged from 130 to 155 degrees during testing and fell to 137 degrees after more than 12 operating cycles.
Inspectors directed the establishment to sanitize all dishware using its three-compartment sink until environmental health officials verify that the machine has been repaired.
Other violations included the reuse of disposable fish trays and mozzarella containers for food storage, an unlabeled oil squeeze bottle, and rusted shelving in a walk-in cooler.
Paper towel dispensers were also empty at three of the kitchen’s four handwashing sinks. Towels were supplied during the inspection.
At Taipei Chinese Kitchen, located at 849 W. Baltimore Pike in West Grove, inspectors observed stainless steel bowls being stored in direct contact with exposed food inside refrigerated food-holding units.
The county directed the restaurant to use tongs or handled utensils to prevent potential cross-contamination.
Inspectors also documented a leaking handwashing sink near the three-compartment sink and found that a trash can obstructed access to the handwashing station.
The trash can was moved during the inspection, while repairs were required to address the plumbing leak.
Five other food establishments inspected October 14 were listed as in compliance with county food safety requirements:
- Cena Catering Company LLC, operating as Tasty Table, 10 Leopard Road, Berwyn.
- Chipotle Mexican Grill #3106, 50 National Avenue, Suite 1100, Malvern.
- Fusion Restaurant, 1103 West Chester Pike, West Chester.
- Hissho Sushi at Giant #6045, 849 W. Baltimore Pike, West Grove.
- Saladworks & FruttaBowls, 1353 Dilworthtown Road, West Chester.
