YMCA of Greater Brandywine Announces Major Facility Upgrades Across Chester County

YMCA of Greater Brandywine Invests $2 Million in Facility EnhancementsSubmitted Image

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) announced a series of major capital investments to enhance facilities and improve member experiences across its seven branches throughout Chester County. The upgrades include new strength training equipment, renovated spaces, and expanded recreation areas, representing one of the most significant infrastructure initiatives in the organization’s recent history.

All seven traditional YGBW branches received upgraded strength equipment this fall, while several locations will see major additions in the coming months. Projects include a new outdoor pavilion with two pickleball courts at the Jennersville YMCA in West Grove, new childcare and early learning classrooms along with EGYM connected fitness equipment at the Kennett Area YMCA, a redesigned lobby and ADA-compliant restroom at the Oscar Lasko YMCA in West Chester (expected in early 2026), and a new outdoor pool at the Lionville Community YMCA in Exton, slated for completion by summer 2026.

“These projects represent a significant investment in health, happiness, and connection for the benefit of Chester County residents both now—and for many years to come,” said Kim Cavallero, Senior Vice President of Member Experience & Acquisition. “We are proud to make these investments for the community, but especially proud that the projects were selected based upon member and community feedback.”

The Lionville Community YMCA’s outdoor pool project, approved earlier this year, marks one of the largest undertakings. The redesigned pool will offer extended lap lanes, water features, and expanded space for family recreation, swim lessons, and youth programming. “It will be an extremely proud moment when we cut the ribbon on the reimagined outdoor pool at Lionville and welcome the community back for splashes, cannonballs, and summer fun,” said YGBW President & CEO Bertram L. Lawson II.

At the Jennersville YMCA, the addition of a multi-purpose outdoor pavilion will expand summer camp offerings and support year-round programming. The facility also features two newly opened pickleball courts to meet growing community demand for outdoor recreation. “We have seen a growing need for summer camp within our service area, and this new pavilion will allow us to enhance the camper experience,” said Nic Legere, District Executive Director.

To showcase the upgrades, YGBW will host open house events on Saturday, November 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at its Coatesville, Jennersville, Lionville Community, and West Chester Area branches. The events will feature fitness demonstrations, youth program samplers, and opportunities for residents to explore the new facilities.
