MALVERN, PA — Ocugen, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCGN) Chief Executive Officer Shankar Musunuri will discuss regulatory approval and commercialization of cell and gene therapies at an industry conference Oct. 6 in Phoenix as the Malvern biotechnology company advances treatments for inherited retinal diseases and other causes of blindness.
Musunuri, who is also Ocugen’s chairman and co-founder, is scheduled to participate in a panel at the Cell & Gene Meeting on the Mesa 2026 at the Arizona Biltmore.
The session, titled “Navigating the Road to Approval, Commercialization, and the Future of Cell and Gene Therapy,” is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. MST.
Ocugen is developing modifier gene therapies intended to treat retinal diseases through a gene-agnostic approach rather than targeting individual genetic mutations.
The company’s platform is designed to influence multiple gene networks involved in disease biology, potentially allowing therapies to address broader patient populations than treatments developed for a specific mutation.
Ocugen is advancing programs targeting retinitis pigmentosa and Stargardt disease, both inherited retinal disorders, as well as geographic atrophy, an advanced form of dry age-related macular degeneration.
The Cell & Gene Meeting on the Mesa brings industry participants together to address development and commercialization issues affecting cell and gene therapies.
