WAYNE, PA — Command Medical Products, an Argosy Healthcare Partners portfolio company, acquired Costa Rica-based Injection Moulding & Tooling Services S.A., adding injection molding and tooling capabilities while establishing a third manufacturing site in the country’s medical-device manufacturing hub.
The acquisition expands Command’s production capabilities from component manufacturing through finished-device assembly. Financial terms were not disclosed.
IMATS operates a 32,000-square-foot facility in the Free Trade Zone in Cartago, Costa Rica. The operation has capacity to more than double its current production volume, according to Command.
The company provides injection molding, pad printing, assembly and packaging, as well as injection-mold tooling design, manufacturing and validation services.
Adding those operations gives Command a broader manufacturing platform that also includes tube extrusion, RF welding, clean-room assembly and packaging.
“IMATS adds important injection molding and tooling capabilities that complement Command’s existing extrusion, welding, and assembly operations,” Command Chief Executive Officer Mike Fillion said.
The combination is intended to allow Command to handle a broader portion of customers’ medical-device production within a single manufacturing platform.
IMATS founder and President Julian Emery said joining Command will give the Costa Rican operation access to the resources of a larger organization while expanding its ability to serve customers.
