WEST BRANDYWINE TWP, PA — Freedom Village at Brandywine brought representatives from 14 senior living communities together in September for a regional council meeting focused on comparing operations, resident experiences, and practices across continuing care communities.
About 40 residents and guests from communities in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties attended the Continuing Care Retirement Communities Council meeting. Freedom Village has participated in the council for more than 20 years.
Council members are residents of participating communities offering Type A continuing care contracts. Those contracts provide access to a continuum of care without additional charges when residents move to higher levels of health care services, including personal care, assisted living, skilled nursing or memory care.
The council gives residents from different communities a forum to conduct surveys, compare experiences and exchange practices intended to improve services and community life.
“Bringing these communities together provides a valuable opportunity for residents to learn from one another and share ideas,” Paula Taylor, a Freedom Village resident and council member, stated. “We were pleased to welcome our fellow council members to Freedom Village and provide a space where everyone could connect, exchange information and learn from each other.”
The September gathering included a wellness presentation by Freedom Village’s clinical dietitian, followed by the council’s business meeting. Guests toured the community before participants reconvened for lunch and further discussions.
Participating communities include Beaumont at Bryn Mawr, Cathedral Village, Kendal Crosslands, Dunwoody Village, Freedom Village at Brandywine, Granite Farms Estates, Kendal at Longwood, Lima Estates, The Quadrangle, Riddle Village, The Hill at Whitemarsh, Waverly Heights, Wesley Enhanced Living, and White Horse Village.
Freedom Village residents and staff also volunteered to support the gathering.
