WEST CHESTER, PA — In a recent announcement, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) revealed the promotion of Terri Edgar to Senior Vice President of Branch Operations. With over 30 years of experience in various roles within the YMCA, Edgar is well-equipped to lead operations across eight branches and program centers in Chester County.
A consummate professional, Edgar’s new role will see her ensuring operational consistency and excellence, while aligning the organization’s efforts with community needs. Her portfolio includes stewardship of Childcare and Early Learning, Before and After School Enrichment Programs, and Summer Camp, where she will ensure high operational standards across the Association.

Edgar’s focus will be on adapting YMCA services to meet the diverse needs of each branch’s local community and developing an operational model that allows staff to deliver services on-location efficiently. Aligning branch operations to the Association’s strategic plan also forms a significant part of her responsibilities.
Edgar’s journey with the YMCA spans more than three decades, during which she has held various roles, including Executive Director of the West Chester Area YMCA and Regional Vice President of Operations. She has always been dedicated to the YMCA’s mission and serving the community.
Reflecting on her personal connection with the YMCA, Edgar shared, “The Y was the first place that I truly felt that I belonged as a child. That sense of belonging set me on a path and has followed me throughout my career at the Y.”
Beyond her expertise in Branch Operations and Aquatics, Edgar has been a strong advocate for inclusivity within the organization. She has supported multiple Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to ensure that YMCA employees feel welcome and included, irrespective of their race, disabilities, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Edgar holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Ithaca College and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in human resources management at West Chester University.
