Dieters Beware: America’s 3rd Most Loathed Fast Food Is the Philly Cheesesteak

Dieters across the nation have spoken: Philadelphia’s beloved cheesesteak sandwich has been voted as the third most loathed fast food dish due to its irresistible taste. According to a recent survey conducted by FeastGood.com, 3,000 dieters found it hardest to resist this savory combination of thinly sliced beefsteak, melted cheese and onions served on a soft roll.

The Philly cheesesteak is more than just a meal – it’s a cultural icon that represents the City of Brotherly Love. However, this iconic sandwich often packs an unhealthy punch with high levels of calories and saturated fat content. The beef is usually cooked with oil and then topped with cheese for an added indulgence. This means that dieters risk consuming too many calories and unhealthy fats when they indulge in the city’s favorite sandwich.

Despite being one of America’s most loathed fast foods, many still indulge in the cheesy goodness of a traditional Philly cheesesteak from time to time. One of the survey participants commented, “I love Philly cheesesteaks – I just don’t love what happens afterward! I always regret having one because it’s so hard to resist but I know it’s not healthy for me.”

It’s interesting to see what other regional food items are loathed by dieters. According to the FeastGood.com poll, Vermont’s signature ice cream took the top spot of foods to avoid while on a diet. Coming in second was Kentucky-style fried chicken. The fourth place ranking went to Massachusetts’ chocolate chip cookies and the fifth was Illinois’ deep-dish pizza.

“Fast food is designed to be convenient, quick, and tasty. Its high salt, sugar, and fat content trigger the pleasure centers in our brain, making us crave more. However, the same qualities that make fast food so tempting also make it a bad option for people trying to lose weight,” says Amanda Parker, Nutrition Coach at FeastGood.com.

“Fast food is typically high in calories and low in nutrients, and its frequent consumption can lead to weight gain, high cholesterol, and other health problems. While it may be challenging to resist the temptation of fast food, making healthier choices is essential for maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle.”

So next time you find yourself craving a cheesesteak, remember – moderation is key! Enjoying this delicious treat in moderation can help you avoid over-indulging in unhealthy fats and calories that can hinder your diet goals.
