CHADDS FORD, PA — The Brandywine Museum of Art is bringing back its cherished annual tradition, the Holiday Critter Sale, from November 30 to December 3, 2023. This year, the event will be held at the Chadds Ford Historical Society, offering more than 10,000 unique and fanciful Critter ornaments and tabletop displays.

These distinctive ornaments have been a part of the museum’s holiday tradition since 1971. Lovingly handcrafted by dedicated Brandywine volunteers, the Critters are made from all-natural and foraged materials such as teasel, pinecones, acorns, eggshells, flowers, and seed pods. The collection includes a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from whimsical animals like reindeer, foxes, and bears to heavenly angels and stars, and even cozy cottage tabletop scenes.

The public sale hours run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 30 through December 2, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on December 3. Members of the Brandywine Museum also get early access during the member preview sale on November 29. Prices for these unique ornaments range from $5 to $35, with specialty items priced between $50 and $250. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Brandywine’s Art Education and Public Programming.

For those unable to attend the in-person sale, a smaller selection of Critter ornaments is available for purchase online. From December 4, 2023, any remaining Critter ornaments from the public sale will also be available in the Museum’s gift shop.

In addition to the Critter Sale, visitors to the Brandywine Museum of Art can enjoy the iconic O-gauge model train display, the Brandywine Railroad. This beloved holiday tradition features trains running on 2,000 feet of track and includes more than 1,000 pieces. The display will be on view through January 7, 2024.
