Downingtown STEM Student Earns NASA SEES Internship Spot

Miraan Jhaveri

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A Downingtown STEM Academy student has been selected for a nationally competitive NASA summer research internship, joining a small group of high school students who will collaborate with scientists and engineers on Earth and space science projects.

Miraan Jhaveri was selected for the NASA STEM Enhancement in Earth and Space (SEES) Summer Internship, a virtual program hosted by The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Space Research and funded by NASA. More than 3,000 students applied for 111 internship positions.

The internship pairs students with NASA-funded researchers to conduct projects using data from Earth-observing satellites, the International Space Station and other NASA missions. Participants also complete coursework in Earth and space science and Python programming before presenting their research at the SEES National Science Symposium. They are also supported in presenting their work at the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting.
