WEST GROVE, PA — Avon Grove High School junior Kyle Burk has verbally committed to continue his academic and swimming career at Louisiana State University, joining the school’s Division I program beginning in Fall 2027.

Burk, who trains with the Kennett & Jennersville Area YMCA, has emerged as one of the nation’s top distance freestyle and backstroke swimmers through a series of national and state-level performances over the past year.

At YMCA Short Course Nationals, Burk captured national titles in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 1,650-yard freestyle. He also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle and fourth in the 200-yard backstroke.

His recent results also include silver medals in the 200-meter backstroke and 1,500-meter freestyle at YMCA Long Course Nationals, along with a top-20 finish at Junior Nationals.

Representing Avon Grove High School at the 2026 Pennsylvania Class 3A Swimming and Diving Championships, Burk placed second in the 500-yard freestyle and ninth in the 200-yard freestyle. As a sophomore, he recorded top-12 finishes in both the 500 freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

Burk is also a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, recognizing academic and athletic achievement.

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Louisiana State University,” Burk said in a statement released by the district. “I want to thank my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for all of your support and encouragement.”

His personal-best times include 4:23.91 in the 500-yard freestyle, 9:07.23 in the 1,000-yard freestyle, 15:18.28 in the 1,650-yard freestyle and 1:46.38 in the 200-yard backstroke.

Kyle Christy, director of athletics and student activities for Avon Grove School District, stated that Burk’s commitment reflects years of work in both academics and athletics.

“His hard work, leadership, and dedication have earned this milestone, and the district is excited to see him represent Avon Grove in Baton Rouge,” Christy said.
