IMMACULATA, PA — Immaculata University awarded five incoming students Presidential Scholarships covering full-time undergraduate tuition for four years, extending the Chester County university’s top merit-based award to members of its Class of 2030.
The scholarships are awarded to first-year students based on academic performance, including GPA, the rigor of high school coursework, standardized test scores, class rank, and recommendations from teachers and counselors.
Three of this year’s recipients are pursuing nursing degrees. Hannah Baran of Norristown plans to participate in Campus Ministry and the Respect Life club, while Aleena McMenamin of Elkins Park plans to join the Student Nurses Association, Asian Student Association, student government, and IU for Women club.
Thomas Petrowski of Sewell, New Jersey, is also majoring in nursing and competes on Immaculata’s cross country and winter and spring track teams.
Alaina Picard of Harleysville is majoring in biology with a pre-med minor. She competes in women’s basketball and flag football and plans to participate in Campus Ministry.
Oliver Leader of Chesapeake City, Maryland, is majoring in history and competes on the university’s cross-country and indoor and outdoor track teams.
“Students selected as Presidential Scholarship recipients already bring tremendous potential to Immaculata,” university President Barbara Lettiere stated.
The five recipients come from Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey. Baran, McMenamin and Picard are from Montgomery County; Leader is from Cecil County, Maryland; and Petrowski is from Gloucester County, New Jersey.
Immaculata University, located in Chester County about 30 miles west of Philadelphia, offers more than 100 undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs.
