MEDIA, PA — Western Governors University and Delaware County Community College have established a transfer agreement giving DCCC graduates and employees access to WGU’s online degree programs and scholarship opportunities, expanding options for students seeking to continue their education in Delaware and Chester counties.
The agreement creates transfer pathways from DCCC to WGU’s competency-based programs and includes personalized support and professional development opportunities, according to the institutions.
DCCC graduates and employees will also be eligible to apply for WGU’s Community College Partner Scholarship, worth up to $3,500. Awards are based on satisfactory academic performance.
The partnership extends WGU’s reach in Pennsylvania, where the university currently enrolls more than 4,300 students and has 9,500 alumni. WGU was established in 1997 by 19 U.S. governors and operates as a nonprofit, competency-based university.
“By partnering with Delaware County Community College, we are expanding access to education, eliminating barriers to opportunity, and preparing learners for meaningful careers through flexible, career-aligned degree programs,” Dr. K.L. Allen, WGU’s Northeast regional vice president, stated.
For DCCC, the arrangement adds WGU to a network of more than 30 transfer agreements with four-year institutions. The community college serves about 20,000 credit and non-credit students annually in Delaware and Chester counties.
DCCC President Dr. Marta Yera Cronin called the agreement another option for students seeking to continue their education after attending the community college. DCCC offers associate degrees, professional certificates, workforce programs, dual enrollment and transfer pathways to four-year institutions.
