MEDIA, PA — Delaware County Community College will recognize military veterans and active-duty service members Sept. 29 during a home soccer match at its Marple Campus, using the event to spotlight veterans and the support available to military-connected students.
The Veterans Appreciation Match will begin with activities at 3 p.m. at the campus, 901 S. Media Line Road in Media. The DCCC Phantoms will face Atlantic Cape Community College at 4 p.m.
Veterans, active service members, and their families are invited to attend. The pregame program will include free refreshments, recognition of veterans and team introductions.
Chester native and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Hartford Saunders will be honored at halftime. Saunders is the father of DCCC Director of Athletics Dwayne Saunders.
The event also draws attention to the college’s services for veterans and active-duty personnel, including assistance navigating Veterans Administration benefits and connections to local support resources.
The Nazz Mariani Veterans Center at the Marple Campus provides enrolled veterans and active service members with a gathering and study space.
Visitors attending the match should enter the campus from Media Line Road and follow signs to designated parking near the outdoor soccer and baseball fields.
