MEDIA, PA — Delaware County Community College will host a hands-on career exploration event this month aimed at connecting students and career changers with skilled trades employers facing persistent labor shortages across the Greater Philadelphia region.

The college’s “Try a Trade Day” event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Advanced Technology Center on DCCC’s Marple Campus in Media.

Attendees will be able to observe demonstrations, tour technical labs, and speak with instructors and industry professionals working in fields including electrical work, automotive technology, carpentry, welding, CNC machining, and HVAC.

The event comes as employers across manufacturing, construction, and technical trades continue to face workforce shortages while promoting alternatives to four-year degree pathways.

DCCC said many of the featured occupations offer what the college described as family-sustaining wages, job stability, and faster workforce entry with lower education-related debt burdens than traditional college programs.

The event is open to high school students, prospective adult learners, and individuals considering career changes. No prior experience is required.

Registration information is available through Delaware County Community College’s Try a Trade Day page.
