MEDIA, PA — Elisa Ford, a Delaware County Community College (DCCC) alumna and respected SEPTA executive, will deliver the keynote address at the College’s Commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 15, at West Chester University. Ford, a 2012 DCCC graduate and accomplished track and field coach, embodies the values of resilience and determination.
Ford, of Yeadon, has been named the 2024-2025 recipient of the prestigious Wong Moss Alumni Award, which honors her outstanding contributions to her profession and community. Reflecting on her time at DCCC, Ford credits the institution as the springboard for her personal and professional achievements. She earned her associate degree in Applied Science in General Studies with high honors and rejoined DCCC this academic year as an assistant coach for the Phantoms Track and Field team. Under the leadership of Ford and head coach Cara Fordenbacher, six student-athletes have qualified for the NJCAA Division III Track & Field Championships.
A Philadelphia high school track and field champion and former Olympic hopeful sidelined by the 1980 U.S. boycott, Ford’s story is one of perseverance. Despite facing setbacks, she remains a fierce competitor in field events, participating in national competitions, including the upcoming 2025 National Senior Games in July.
Ford also plays a pivotal role at SEPTA, where she serves as a talent acquisition executive and co-chairs its Employee Preparedness Training & Development Committee. Beyond that, she supports educational institutions across the region and dedicates time as a volunteer at her community church.
Looking ahead, Ford will complete her master’s degree in Nonprofit Organization Management this spring and begin pursuing a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies at Queens College of Theology. She and her husband, McDonald E. Ford, have been married for 33 years and are proud parents of eight children.
Ford’s remarkable path and steadfast dedication to athletics, community, and learning will undoubtedly inspire the graduating class of 2025.
