EXTON, PA — Book lovers can fill their shelves while supporting their local library when thousands of bargain-priced books and other media go up for sale during a three-day fall tradition in Exton.
The Friends of the Chester County Library Fall Book Sale returns Oct. 9-11, offering books along with music and movie CDs and DVDs. Families will also find a large selection of children’s books gathered in a separate room.
The weekend begins Friday evening with an early-shopping session reserved for Friends members. Memberships can be purchased at the sale beginning at 5 p.m. Friday or obtained in advance using the membership form available through the library.
The doors open to everyone Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving the wider community a full day to browse the sale.
Sunday brings the popular Bag Sale Day. Shoppers can fill a supplied bag with books for $10, while current Friends members pay $7 per bag. Those purchasing less than a full bag can buy books for half price.

Shoppers can pay with cash, checks, PayPal, or Venmo. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Chester County Library, turning each stack of books headed home with a reader into support for the local institution.
For anyone whose shelves still have room after the fall sale, the Friends are already looking ahead: the next spring book sale is currently scheduled for April 9-11, 2027.
