POTTSTOWN, PA — East Coventry Township has secured nearly $100,000 in state historic preservation funding, part of a broader effort to protect Pennsylvania’s historic resources as communities prepare for the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations.

State Rep. Paul Friel announced that East Coventry Township was awarded a $97,399 Keystone Historic Preservation Grant through the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

The funding is part of more than $2.2 million distributed statewide through the Keystone Historic Preservation Grant Program, which supports projects aimed at identifying, preserving, protecting, and promoting historic and archaeological resources across the Commonwealth.

The grant program provides matching funds for planning and construction projects involving historic resources and is intended to support preservation efforts and community revitalization initiatives. Recipients are required to provide a 50% local funding match.

Friel said the investment will help protect local historic assets while preserving community heritage for future generations.

“East Coventry Township is home to important historic assets that help tell the story of our community and our commonwealth,” Friel said. “This funding will help ensure those stories are preserved for future generations.”

The latest round of preservation funding comes as Pennsylvania communities prepare for events marking the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.

State officials have positioned historic preservation projects as a way to highlight Pennsylvania’s role in the nation’s founding, while also supporting tourism, local economic development, and community identity.
