CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Get ready to lace up your running shoes and add a splash of color to your Saturday morning, as the seventh annual Chester County Color 5K takes place on October 7, 2023. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Exton Park and the scenic Chester Valley Trail, this family-friendly event promises to be more than just a run.
The Color 5K, supported generously by presenting sponsors John R. Gailey III and JoEllen Berger Charitable Fund, is not only a timed race open to both runners and walkers but also a vibrant display of community unity. It serves as a powerful platform to raise awareness and funds to combat the rampant opioid and heroin epidemic plaguing Chester County.
Registration kicks off bright and early at 8:00 AM, with the race commencing at 9:00 AM. But this year’s event is about more than just the thrill of competition; it’s about making a real difference in the lives of those affected by substance abuse.
The proceeds from the Color 5K will directly support Chester County’s Community Outreach Prevention and Education (COPE) program, a pioneering initiative designed to steer overdose survivors toward recovery. The COPE program ensures that any individual treated for an overdose in a Chester County hospital can meet with a certified recovery specialist within an hour of entering the emergency room. This immediate intervention provides the survivor with personal support and facilitates a direct connection to treatment and recovery services.
This year’s Color 5K promises to be not just a race, but a celebration of community resilience, unity, and the collective fight against the opioid crisis. So mark your calendars, and come join the dash against addiction and sprint towards a brighter, healthier future for Chester County!
